Labour Court recommends assessor for agricultural college technicians' pay claim

In 1991, the Labour Court recommended that the Association Of Agricultural Colleges and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union agree to appoint an assessor to report objectively on technicians' claim for pay parity with Teagasc technicians. The claim concerned technicians at seven private colleges funded directly by Teagasc. The union said an earlier assessment had not adequately considered how the jobs had developed, while the colleges said the roles and grading structures were not comparable. The recommendation was signed on 24 January 1991.
