In 1990, the Labour Court recommended urgent discussions between Teagasc and the Union Of Professional And Technical Civil Servants on integrating the former A.C.O.T. and A.F.T. staff grading structures. If integration was not feasible, it recommended evaluation of the worker's and comparator's work to help agree the rate for the Senior Technical Officer (Architectural) post. The recommendation was signed on 27 September 1990. The union had sought regrading of the post to Experimental Officer I level. Management argued that the existing S.T.O. grade matched the duties; the Court called for suitable arrangements to review and evaluate posts.
