In 1990, the Labour Court found no grounds to sustain a worker’s claim that Chip Chase Limited unfairly dismissed him. The recommendation was signed on 20 July 1990. The worker, a delicatessen chargehand, disputed the company’s reasons for dismissing him. Chip Chase Limited said it had retained him on a trial basis after taking over the store but he did not meet its requirements for running the delicatessen counter. The Court took the trial period into account.
