The Labour Court recommended redundancy terms for transport fleet workers at Amalgamated Bottling Company in a decision signed on 25 June 1990. It recommended three-and-a-half weeks’ basic pay per year of service, in addition to statutory entitlements, and a £1,000 lump sum per claimant. The Services Industrial Professional and Technical Union and the Amalgamated Transport and General Workers’ Union sought six weeks’ gross pay per year of service and other terms for 14 workers facing redundancy during a fleet reorganisation. The Court recommended that the company offer the terms and the unions accept them.
