The Labour Court recommended delaying discussions on staff shareholding in TEAM Aer Lingus until the business reached full production and its projected employment of 560 was achieved. The recommendation was signed on 13 June 1990. Aer Lingus Craft Unions Group raised the issue on behalf of about 850 craftsmen. The Court noted that Aer Lingus did not reject staff shareholding in principle, but cited unfinished capital arrangements, the business’s early stage and the Government’s lack of a policy decision on staff shares in state or semi-state companies. It recommended earlier discussions if third-party participation or a Government policy decision changed the position.
