The Labour Court did not recommend concession of the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and Union of Construction, Allied Trades and Technicians’ claim for £1,000 per worker in relocation compensation for about 21 Office Of Public Works workers in Kilkenny. The recommendation was signed on 1 June 1990. The unions said the move from central Kilkenny to Hebron Industrial Estate would increase travel time and costs for most workers. The Office Of Public Works cited a 1983 directive against disturbance payments and disputed the extent of the inconvenience. The Court recommended that the parties discuss individual difficulties for workers who had walked to work.
