In 1989, the Labour Court recommended that Scully Tyrrell And Company meet Manufacturing Science Finance to discuss a work monitoring system affecting four typists in its Dublin office. The recommendation was signed on 11 December 1989. Manufacturing Science Finance said the system did not fairly measure the typists’ work and had been introduced without consultation. Scully Tyrrell did not respond to the union’s meeting requests and declined an invitation to conciliation. The Court recommended that the company meet the union without further delay to discuss how the system operated.
