The Labour Court upheld a Rights Commissioner's £500 recommendation after a worker's unfair-dismissal appeal against Beech Park Golf Club. In a decision signed on 12 December 1989, the Court also said the club committee should arrange a suitable reference for him. The worker appealed because he had not received a reference or compensation. The club said cash shortages and incomplete stocktaking records prompted the dismissal. The Rights Commissioner found no real evidence that the worker was responsible for the shortages and concluded that the dismissal was unfair. The Labour Court found no grounds to change that recommendation and said it should be implemented.
