The Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Irish Distributive And Administrative Trade Union's claim for an extra annual-leave day for about 4,000 employees of Dublin & Dun Laoghaire Drapery Footwear & Allied Trades. The recommendation was dated 31 July 1989. The union cited leave arrangements elsewhere and argued that the claim was within the agreed wage-round process. The employers said the Programme for National Recovery precluded further cost-increasing claims. The Court said the extra day was not warranted under the programme.
