The Labour Court recommended that Fujitsu Microelectronics Ireland Limited recognise the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union (Dublin No. 2 Branch) without preconditions in a decision signed on 19 May 1989. The union represented technical, supervisory and administration workers at the company's Tallaght site, which employed 250 people. The Court also recommended that the company and union negotiate a procedural agreement by 30 June 1989. It said the agreement should address the company's need to manage workplace disputes and disciplinary appeals while protecting both sides' interests.
