The Labour Court found no grounds to concede the Federated Workers Union Of Ireland’s claim for a driving allowance for a worker at Eastern Health Board. The recommendation was signed on 11 May 1989. The worker had moved from boilerman to driver at Cherry Orchard Hospital while retaining his higher boilerman rate. The Board said the allowance went to general operatives whose pay was below the driver’s scale, while the worker’s retained rate was above it.
