The Labour Court did not recommend conceding Irish Transport And General Workers Union's claim for fixed staffing levels at Roches Stores' Henry Street store. The recommendation was signed on 5 May 1989. The union said unfilled vacancies put pressure on workers and made it difficult to cover holidays and absences. Roches Stores said staffing needs were determined by the level of business. The Court agreed that staffing numbers in normal commercial employment depended on business levels.
