The Labour Court recommended that B + I Line and the Federated Workers Union of Ireland negotiate revised overtime arrangements for about 105 ships officers during dry dockings. The recommendation was signed on 22 December 1988. The Court noted that dry-docking periods had changed since the original agreement and that detailed negotiations on the union’s claim for increased overtime had not taken place. It recommended negotiations on arrangements for dry dockings after July 1989. Until then, the officers were to work overtime under the existing agreement during a dry docking due on 15 January.
