Labour Court does not recommend conceding Public Service Executive Union allowance claim

In 1988, the Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Public Service Executive Union’s claim against Fas for an allowance for Occupational Guidance Officers. The recommendation was signed on 22 December 1988. The union argued that the officers’ specialist qualifications and responsibilities justified an allowance after their posts were graded at Higher Executive Officer level alongside Placement Officers. Fas said the salary scales had been established independently and that the regrading reflected a wider range of work for some Placement Officers. The Court found no differential or allowance had existed between the scales.
