In 1988, the Labour Court recommended immediate negotiations between Beech Park Golf Club and the Irish Transport And General Workers Union over pay scales for two groundsmen. The recommendation was signed on 21 December 1988. The club was prepared to review their pay rates with a view to increases from 1 April 1989. The groundsmen were then paid £145 a week, including a £5 increase awarded in April 1988.
