Labour Court recommends higher grade rate for Wexford County Council assistant foreman

In 1988, the Labour Court recommended conceding the National Engineering And Electrical Trade Union's claim for a grade 1 foreman or supervisor rate for an assistant foreman employed by Wexford County Council. The recommendation was signed on 14 December 1988. The union said the assistant foreman supervised craft workers, covered a supervisor's absences and performed duties across two supervisory roles. Wexford County Council said he was correctly paid at grade 2 and that the work volume did not justify the higher rate. Taking account of a reorganisation of supervisors' duties, the Court recommended conceding the union's claim.
