The Labour Court recommended that Switzer And Company Limited and the Irish Transport And General Workers' Union resume local discussions about porter duties, after finding the duties were appropriate to the workers’ grade. It said it would make a further recommendation if the talks failed. The union also sought a Monday-to-Friday week for display staff. The Court did not recommend conceding that claim. Its recommendation was signed on 28 November 1988.
