The Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Irish Transport And General Workers' Union’s claim for a meal allowance for 12 workers at Kilsaran Concrete Products Limited. The Court pointed to the purchase agreement, which made no reference to meal allowances. The recommendation was signed on 18 November 1988. The workers’ terms changed after Kilsaran took over the plant in 1987, when a previous daily meal allowance was discontinued. The company said a £2,000 lump sum had been paid to each worker for changes to their terms.
