The Labour Court did not recommend in favour of the Irish Transport and General Workers Union and Federated Workers Union of Ireland claims for pay relativity with fitters at Roadstone Provinces Limited. The recommendation was signed on 29 November 1988. The unions sought comparable treatment for general operatives, including meal-break arrangements and chargehand rates. The Court found the different work patterns arose from production requirements and said the resulting difference in earnings did not justify conceding the claims.
