The Labour Court recommended that Roadstone Dublin Limited and the Electrical Trades Union negotiate terms to end an agreement on a responsibility payment for an electrician at the company’s Belgard plant. The recommendation was signed on 28 October 1988. The union said the company had not included the payment in the worker’s basic rate and sought to make good the resulting loss. Roadstone said the payment reflected extra shift responsibilities that ended after it appointed supervisors. The Court found the October 1985 agreement remained in force, although its operation was no longer necessary, and recommended that the company and union negotiate its termination.
