The Labour Court recommended that the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union and Irish Print Union accept Eason & Son Limited’s one-off payment offer in a dispute over staffing, pay and flexible working. The recommendation was signed on 3 November 1988. The Court said Eason had acted hastily and without proper consultation when transferring several clerks to staff-grade jobs. It found that replacing staff and making ongoing enhanced payments for flexibility were not warranted, and recommended acceptance of the company’s offer.
