In 1988, the Labour Court did not recommend concession of Transport Salaried Staffs' Association's claim against Irish Rail for a £550 integration payment for two workshop supervisors. The recommendation was signed on 24 October 1988. The claim followed the centralisation of rolling-stock maintenance at Connolly Station. The association said the supervisors should receive the payment made to other grades; Irish Rail argued the changes that justified those payments, including losses of seniority or shifts in duties, did not apply to the supervisors.
