In 1988, the Labour Court recommended that Jobman Workwear Limited pay the January and February wage increases in December to eligible workers still employed by the company at that time. The recommendation was signed on 16 September 1988. The National Union Of Tailors And Garment Workers sought the current wage round from 1 January 1988. Jobman Workwear had implemented the increase from 1 March under the Employment Regulation Order and cited start-up losses and factory purchase payments in opposing backdated increases. The Court recommended payment of the January and February increases in December 1988 to workers still employed then.
