In 1988, the Labour Court recommended compensation for four console operators and sales assistants transferred when Sillogue service station moved to a licensee operation. The recommendation, signed on 7 July 1988, followed the Irish Transport And General Workers' Union's claim against Artane Service Station Limited. The Court said the workers should receive compensation on the same basis as other company employees transferred to agency arrangements under the October 1987 agreement. The union said they should receive at least those terms; the company said their existing employment rights and conditions had transferred to the licensee.
