The Labour Court recommended that the Irish Transport And General Workers' Union defer its paid sick-leave claim for non-appointed staff at Limerick Harbour Commissioners until the Programme for National Recovery ended. It also recommended one extra pair of trousers and two shirts a year for six security workers. The recommendation was signed on 27 June 1988. The sick-leave claim followed the introduction of seven days of uncertified paid leave. The security workers guarded the main dock gates and patrolled harbour buildings.
