Labour Court recommends union accept Motorway Tyres proposals, including £10 weekly increase

The Labour Court recommended that the Irish Transport And General Workers Union accept Motorway Tyres And Batteries’ proposals on wage increases and pay parity for four workers, amended to apply a £10 addition to weekly basic pay from 1 January 1988. The National Plan terms were to apply to the new basic rate from that date. The recommendation was signed on 24 June 1988. The union had sought wage-round increases and equal pay with workers at the Portlaoise depot. The company’s offer linked pay parity measures to workplace changes.
