The Labour Court recommended that Victor Hotel pay an ex-gratia sum of £3,000, less the £868.40 already paid, to settle a union claim on behalf of a porter. The recommendation was signed on 20 June 1988. The Irish Transport and General Workers’ Union sought a severance payment for the house porter, whose employment ended during redundancies in 1987. The Court recommended the payment in full settlement of the claim.
