Labour Court recommends £1,000 for Roadstone worker in redundancy dispute

The Labour Court recommended that Roadstone Dublin Limited pay £1,000 to a worker in addition to any other sums due under established redundancy arrangements. It said direct notice had not been given to him or his union. The recommendation was signed on 17 June 1988. The Irish Transport And General Workers' Union disputed the worker’s redundancy and the company’s consultation and notice process. The Court accepted that a redundancy situation existed and had inevitably affected his job, but recommended the additional payment in light of the notice issue.
