The Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Irish Transport And General Workers Union’s claim against Aer Lingus for retrospective pay and seniority credit for seven workers upgraded from cooks to chefs. The recommendation was signed on 2 May 1988. The Court said the workers had accepted roles graded below chef within Aer Lingus’s grading structure, and their ability to perform higher-grade duties did not support retrospective assimilation to the higher grade.
