In 1988, the Labour Court recommended that Noel Hanlon (Ireland) Ltd and the Irish Transport And General Workers' Union agree the names of 36 workers to be made compulsorily redundant and divide £60,000 among them according to length of service. The recommendation was signed on 30 March 1988. A worker outside the list could take voluntary redundancy on the same compensation basis, subject to management agreement.
