The Labour Court did not recommend conceding a union claim for a pay increase for a worker at Harvey Printers Limited, in a recommendation signed on 21 December 1987. The Irish Women Workers' Branch and the Federated Workers' Union of Ireland sought a higher rate for the worker, who had been employed by the company for 42 years and carried out packing, labelling and despatch-related duties. The unions argued that her existing pay differential did not reflect her responsibilities. Harvey Printers said her rate was already above those of comparable workers and that her duties had not changed.
