Labour Court recommends Dunnes Stores restore canteen hot water

In 1987, the Labour Court recommended that Dunnes Stores Cornelscourt Limited restore hot water in the staff canteen, reinstate the canteen committee to monitor prices and menus, and negotiate a fair distribution of available hours for part-time staff. The recommendation, made after the company did not attend the hearing, was signed on 27 November 1987. The Irish Distributive and Administrative Trade Union's claims also concerned canteen prices and part-time hours. The union said hot water had been withdrawn after complaints about prices, sought the committee's return amid concerns about prices and standards, and disputed the company's account that original hours had been offered back to part-time staff and refused.
