In 1987, the Labour Court recommended a 12-month pay pause in a wage dispute between the Royal Dublin Society and Itgwu. The recommendation was signed on 30 November 1987. The union sought a 10% increase over 12 months, overtime in holiday pay and shorter working hours on behalf of 27 workers. The Court said the Society should take steps toward a negotiated pay increase from mid-1988, but did not recommend conceding the other two claims.
