In 1987, the Labour Court recommended two pay increases for three groundsmen at Slade Valley Golf Club, following a claim by the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union. The recommendation was signed on 2 November 1987. The Court recommended a 3% increase from 1 April 1987 and a further 2% from 1 October, with the agreement ending on 31 March 1988. The union had sought a 10% increase over 12 months; the club had offered 3%. The Court also recommended that, if the parties accepted the pay proposal, the union agree to reduced working hours in winter and an equivalent increase in summer, to meet the club's requirement.
