In 1987, the Labour Court recommended amending Bus Atha Cliath's five-day-week proposals so 38% of Sunday duties would be straight duties finishing no later than 18.00. The recommendation was signed on 15 April 1987. The Irish Transport and General Workers Union and the Federated Workers Union of Ireland sought a guaranteed early Sunday for about 1,000 bus workers. Bus Atha Cliath said the proposals followed extensive joint negotiations and Sunday duties compared favourably with the existing system.
