Labour Court recommends £70 bonus formula for Metal Processors workers

In 1987, the Labour Court recommended that Metal Processors Limited improve its bonus formula to yield £70 at 180 tons of output a week, and that the workers accept the revised formula. The recommendation was signed on 7 April 1987. The Marine Port and General Workers' Union objected to a revised bonus scheme on behalf of six workers. The Court noted workers' concerns about work availability and potential earnings under the new formula, and the company's guarantee to provide the minimum weekly output during 1987. The Court said a revision of the bonus structure was warranted and recommended that the company improve its formula to yield £70 at 180 tons, with workers accepting the revised formula.
