In 1987, the Labour Court recommended that The Floridan Group Limited implement its redundancy payment offer to three Switzers workers, as set out in a letter dated 11 April 1985. The recommendation was signed on 7 January 1987. The Irish Distributive and Administrative Trade Union had accepted the offered sums of £2,198 for the manageress, £721 for one worker and £257.50 for another, and sought payment plus interest. The union said the employees had been poorly treated. The Group said they had UK contracts and redundancy terms, and it believed it had met its obligations. The Court recommended implementation of the offer; it did not recommend interest.
