Labour Court recommends four-month probation and 5% pay differential at Tex Print

By Donal Gilhooly

Labour Court ·

The Labour Court recommended that Tex Print Limited reduce probation for non-management staff to four months and give machinists and cutters a 5% differential for hours worked on specified tasks. The recommendation was signed on 19 December 1986. The Irish Print Union had sought a three-month probation period and higher rates for three skilled workers. The Court also recommended that the company’s proposals for temporary night workers be accepted. It did not recommend the union’s claim for equal pay and conditions for part-time staff; the company’s proposal for those workers had been rejected by the union and later withdrawn.
