The Labour Court recommended that C.P.M. Europe Ltd amend its redundancy offer to include statutory entitlement plus £600 per year of service, with a minimum payment of £3,000. The recommendation was signed on 4 December 1986. The dispute arose from rationalisation at the company’s Wexford plant, where 13 redundancies and a four-shift operation for eight workers had been agreed. The Irish Transport and General Workers' Union sought improved redundancy compensation, a higher shift premium and increased productivity payments. The Court also considered the company’s offer to adjust production allowances fair and reasonable and recommended that workers accept it. It said the company’s four-shift offer should also be accepted.
