WRC makes no recommendation in restaurant worker’s dismissal dispute

A WRC adjudication officer made no recommendation in a worker’s dispute over his dismissal from a restaurant. The recommendation was dated 30 July 2025. The worker said the restaurant dismissed him the day after he called in sick and that his contract entitled him to a week’s notice. The restaurant said it dismissed him during probation after problems with his work and denied that wages or notice were due. The officer noted that the contract provided for one week’s notice during probation, while statutory notice was required only after 13 weeks’ employment. The worker said he had financial loss but did not provide the requested evidence.
