The WRC found that a worker was not unfairly dismissed after her employer declined to renew her fixed-term contract. The recommendation was dated 19 December 2024. The worker said her contract had automatically extended for 12 months and sought pay through the end of that term. The employer cited discrepancies in her CV and said it had decided not to renew the contract. The adjudication officer found that the contract had been extended for six months, ending on 25 July 2024. The worker was dismissed on 4 July and received one month’s notice pay and outstanding holiday pay. The officer found that the employer was not obliged to renew the contract and did not recommend in the worker’s favour.
