WRC finds no merit in worker’s disciplinary dispute

The Workplace Relations Commission found no merit in a worker’s dispute over a disciplinary process following an incident involving a patient, in a recommendation dated 2 March 2026. The worker said the employer failed to follow fair procedures and wrongly referred the matter to a professional regulator. The WRC found the employer had followed fair procedures: the worker received relevant documents, could postpone the meeting, attended with a colleague and used the appeal process. It said the regulator’s separate process could not be meaningfully compared with the employer’s procedure. The WRC found the grievance element unfounded and said GDPR complaints were outside its jurisdiction. It recommended that the employer take no further steps in the dispute and that both sides focus on restoring a positive working relationship.
