The WRC recommended that a manufacturing company pay a business analyst €2,000 after finding he was dismissed outside his probation period without fair procedures. The recommendation was dated 24 July 2026.
The worker said he was dismissed by phone without being given a reason, while his children listened on speaker in his car. The company said the dismissal was for poor performance.
The adjudication officer read the contract as setting a one-month probation period, followed by a review six months later. He found the worker was dismissed outside probation without fair procedure, a right of appeal or representation. The worker did not have the service required to bring a claim under the Unfair Dismissals Act.
