The WRC recommended that a state employer pay a worker €7,500 in full and final settlement of a dispute over delays in processing an injury-on-duty benefit. The recommendation by Adjudication Officer Donal Moore was dated 17 October 2025. The worker said delays in processing an injury certificate left him off payroll and caused financial hardship. The employer said conflicting accounts of the injury required medical advice, and that the benefit had since been paid retrospectively. The adjudicator found the worker bore some responsibility for confusion in reporting the injury, but said this was minimal. He described the employer’s delays as inordinate and unnecessary and recommended the payment to settle the matter.
