WRC recommends supermarket remove supervisor’s final warning

The WRC recommended that a supermarket remove a worker’s final written warning after finding the appeal decision gave no reasons for upholding it. The recommendation was dated 15 January 2026. The worker sought removal of the warning issued after a workplace disagreement. The employer said the process was fair and the warning proportionate. The adjudicator found the worker had an opportunity to raise his concerns before an appeal manager who was not involved in the investigation or disciplinary hearing, but the appeal outcome did not address the eight grounds of appeal. The warning should be treated as expired from the recommendation date and removed from the worker’s file.
