The WRC recommended €2,000 for a worker in the health services sector who took on most of a former manager’s duties without a written clarification of his role. Adjudication Officer Conor Stokes dated the recommendation on 15 May 2026. The worker said he had taken on the duties in 2018 and sought recognition of his position and backdating. The employer said he had delegated authority but had not been appointed to a higher role, and that no acting or higher-duties allowance was available. The WRC found that his duties, status and reporting arrangements had not been clarified in writing. It recommended a mechanism to assess additional duties, an update to the job specification and €2,000 compensation.
