WRC recommends €1,500 payment after Security Service failed to update applicant

The WRC recommended that Security Service pay Security Personnel €1,500 after finding it acted unreasonably by failing to tell the worker that a recruitment competition had ended. The recommendation was dated 30 January 2026. The worker said he applied for a warrants, summons and firearms officer role but was not invited to interview. Security Service said it abandoned the competition and distributed the duties among other staff. The adjudicator also recommended that the employer meet the worker within two weeks to discuss a renewed secondment.
