WRC finds retired nurse’s regrading dispute out of time

The Workplace Relations Commission found a retired nurse’s dispute over retrospective regrading and pay was referred outside the statutory time limit. The decision was dated 9 January 2024; the merits were not decided. The nurse retired on 14 August 2022 and referred the dispute on 15 March 2023. Her union said local engagement led it to expect the hospital to implement the regrading agreement. The hospital objected that the referral was late and made no substantive response. The officer said the nurse could not rely on that expectation to avoid the time limit and could not make a recommendation.
