The Workplace Relations Commission recommended that a hospitality employer pay a worker €1,000 compensation after he was dismissed without procedures. The recommendation was dated 13 September 2023. The worker said he was told to leave during a shift after returning to work at his manager’s request, without warnings. He also said the owner warned that taking a WRC case could harm his job prospects. The employer did not attend. The officer recommended that the employer introduce disciplinary and dismissal procedures and circulate them to staff when they start work. Unpaid wages and holiday pay were not part of this dispute and could be pursued through employment-rights channels.
