WRC recommends €1,000 settlement for worker’s dispute over acting roles

The WRC recommended that a communications company offer a worker €1,000 to settle a dispute over opportunities to act in higher roles. Adjudication officer Gaye Cunningham’s recommendation was dated 31 August 2023. The worker said he had been blocked from acting as a Working Leader and that a colleague was preferred for acting Manager work. The company said agreements governed who could act and that the worker had withdrawn from a competition. Cunningham said she could not recommend overriding those agreements, but that the worker may have been overlooked at some points between 2021 and 2022.
